1.98 lakh people unemployed
The site Layoffs.fyi, which tracks layoffs, has presented data on how many people have lost their jobs in the tech sector in 2023, according to which, in 2023, about 1.98 lakh workers have been unemployed in the tech sector so far. These people have been fired by 695 companies.
Explain that in comparison to this, in 2022, 1,046 tech companies had laid off more than 1.61 lakh employees.

In January alone, around 1 lakh tech sector employees had to lose their jobs globally. The companies that fired these employees included companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Salesforce among others.
Meta will resume layoffs
Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is expected to begin its third round of layoffs this week. Reports have estimated that this time Meta may lay off 6000 people. Amazon India has fired around 400-500 people this month. Zepz is laying off 420 people, which is around 26 per cent of its total workforce.
This group will take out 55000 people
UK giant BT Group has announced to lay off 55,000 people by the end of this decade. Vodafone will cut 11000 jobs in next 3 years.
