Members of the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) shut down five factories for running without obtaining any legal documents from the authority or the state government.
The leaders and members of FKJGP made a surprise inspection of the factories in the area and found that the factory owners are running the business without any trading license from the authorized authorities.
The federation also slammed the Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in Ri Bhoi district, the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and the EM in charge of trade for failing to check illegal establishments of industries and factories at Umiam.
Meanwhile, Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) chief Thombor Shivat alleged on April 24 that the statement made by the Karbi Anglong DC on the claims of Khanduli, which is under the jurisdiction of Assam, was very provocative.
Last week, Krishna Baruah, DC, West Karbi Anglong, based on documents available with the Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council (KAAC), claimed that Khanduli village belonged to Assam.
