A relief news came today for Samajwadi Party’s national general secretary and former minister Azam Khan. Azam Khan has been acquitted by the court in the hate speech case. In the hate speech case in which Azam Khan was sentenced to 3 years and also went to the Legislature, in the same case, the Rampur court has acquitted Azam Khan while giving a major verdict.
Azam Khan’s lawyer Vinod Sharma said, ‘It was a case of crime number 185/2019, for which we filed an appeal, we were convicted by the lower court, today in the appeal the sessions court said that the lower court’s judgment was wrong and In the case of hate speech, he has been acquitted… We are happy that we have got justice.

what is the whole matter
This matter related to hate speech is related to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Azam Khan allegedly made objectionable and inflammatory remarks during an election speech in Milak assembly of Rampur. This complaint was made by BJP leader and sitting MLA from Rampur seat, Akash Saxena. In this case, the Rampur court convicted Azam.
On October 27 last year, the MP-MLA court sentenced Azam Khan to three years. On the basis of this punishment, the membership of Azam Khan was cancelled.
Before the decision of the court, Azam Khan had filed a petition in the High Court, but due to the decision of the lower court, Azam Khan’s petition was dismissed as unjustified.
Although Azam Khan got bail after being sentenced for three years, but his assembly membership was abolished. After this by-election was held on Rampur seat, in which Akash Saxena won as a BJP candidate.
It was Akash Saxena who had filed a case of hate speech against Azam.
